The Schaffner NSG 509, a high-voltage test generator (HV Test Generator) used to test the resistance of electronic components and systems to electrical surges, can generate voltages up to 5 kV (5000 volts AC).
Common uses:
• Immunity testing according to EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) standards
• Stress tests of insulation or components to simulate lightning strikes, surges or other disturbances
• Safety testing in laboratory environments
Features you can see on the front panel:
• Amplitude knob to set the desired voltage level
• Range selector between 2.5 kV and 5 kV
• Mode selector for TEST or BURN (burn is used for more destructive tests)
• Meter to read voltage or current
• Control to turn on/off the voltage to the test object (DUT)
