Surface Resistivity Meter, model SRM-232 from Guardian Manufacturing Inc. It is used to measure surface resistivity, i.e. how resistant a surface is to electrical conduction.
It is mainly used to measure resistivity of:
• ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protected surfaces, such as workbenches, floors and carpets
• Material testing of plastic, rubber, conductive coatings, etc.
• Control of antistatic materials
Features:
• Digital display for reading resistance in ohms per square (Ω/□)
• Buttons for mode, select, store and power
• Measurement range that usually extends from 10^3 to 10^12 Ω/□
• The kit also includes test leads and test probes (partially visible on the right in the box)
Why is it important?
Surface resistivity is crucial in the electronics industry and sensitive environments where static electricity can damage components. Such an instrument ensures that protective equipment is functioning properly.
