THE SWAN - BORÅS
Former steam sloop built with a riveted iron hull at Ljunggren's Mechanical Workshop in Kristianstad in 1882, one of Sweden's oldest passenger ships still in service.
- Length 15.60 m
- Width 3.44 m
- Draught 1.50 m
- Machine Scania MD 812, 162 hkr.
- Cruising speed 6-7 knots.
- Electrical system 24 V, also 220 V electricity installed.
- Drinks cooler in the bar.
- Saloon with 35 seats for bridge sailing,
- about 25 passengers on cruise.
The steam engine remained on the ship until 1960, when it was replaced with a diesel engine.
This was in turn replaced with the one still on the ship, in 1965.
It has been well-maintained over the years and is virtually indestructible.
At "shrimp speed" (about 5 knots) the stress is minimal, about 800 revolutions/minute.
